Abbreviations

Most of the time, it’s best to spell out words when they easily fit within the Emplifi UI. But we do use abbreviations when necessary to keep dashboards, widgets, tooltips and charts short and scannable—especially in areas where space is limited.

• Spell out words when they fit easily in the UI
• Use final period to indicate the word has been abbreviated
• Abbreviate social media platform names, metric terms, dates, and time units when needed
• Abbreviate days and months with their first 3 letters
• Use standard time abbreviations and 2-letter time zones
• Avoid Latin abbreviations like e.g., i.e., and etc.

Fundamentals

Consider spelling out words when:

• They easily fit within the UI
• The abbreviation could confuse non-native speakers
• The meaning of the abbreviation isn’t immediately clear without context

Too many abbreviations together can reduce readability—use them only when they genuinely improve scanning and layout.

When space is limited, use common abbreviations for social media platforms. Be consistent across the product.
